Soviet Space Shuttle Buran on Transport

This is the Soviet Space Shuttle Buran perched atop the Antinov AN-225 jet, one for the largest airplanes ever built. The name Buran is translated into English to mean Snow Storm. Although the spacecraft made orbit and was landed safely all by remote control, the program was terminated due to economic conditions at the time when the Cold War was ending and the age of the International Space Station was beginning, bringing all the world's space programs into a state of global cooperation.
