Description
On November 30th of 2014, Rangers Ellen and Ricardo went to the Sinks in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Sinks, an area of very fast water flowing over fractured ancient rocks, is located a short distance past the Townsend Wye in Blount County, Tennessee on Little River Road (Scenic TN HWY 73, US HWY 321).
At the trailhead, a new metal sign greeted the hikers. After many years of maintaining wooden signs throughout the park, a target with vandals who like to deface and/or steal the signs, these new metal signs should not only last longer but thwart thieves as well since they are mounted on much longer metal posts driven far deeper into the ground.
