Intel Xeon E5 2670 integrated heat spreader

This image shows the integrated heat spreader (metal lid) of the Intel Xeon E5 2670 LGA 2011 CPU. This is a 115 watt part, so it is a simple matter to air cool and still get top performance with very low heat and noise. Dell has placed one of these units inside the Precision T3600 sitting in my office. It is a fine processor, indeed, able to render large projects in minutes that would take a normal consumer machine hours to finish. Can it game? Well, sort of. An i7 is a better choice for that. Can it render? Yep, that is what it was made for. If you run Poser, DAZ, or any other high end 3D title, this is your CPU. If your wallet is deep enough, go ahead. Get two.
