Building Spanky 39

Description

Before Spanky could be placed in his new home, some beauty shots were in order out on the patio table. Final weight of the finished machine tipped the scales at about 35 lbs. Considering that the rig is a full blown workstation, this is very light, almost luggable. The work dolly the tower is resting on can support 200 lbs. Like Spanky's system spec, way overkill...

With the cable panel removed, we see the interior of the Raijintek Aeneas chassis. A very roomy micro ATX case, it easily holds a system graced with a 155mm tall Noctua NHU12S CPU cooler with two 120mm NF12PWM fans attached. The Noctuas are highly visible with their poop brown and barf tan color scheme. Folks who know, know Noctua is at top of the line.

Note the four empty 3.5inch HDD sleds. These are tool free. You simply place the drive into the sled and slide it in. Eventually, two Western Digital hard drives will be placed in the first and third sleds from the bottom of the stack. This will ensure cool HDD operation and good airflow inside the case from front to back.

Note that this was the picture which allowed Ricardo to find out why the machine could not power on during first activation. The eight pin line feeding juice to the Xeon was not plugged into the PSU. Also, the cables were not managed when these outdoor beauty photos were taken on May 21st, the day before Spanky was officially born.
