Building Duck - New Boot Drive

Description

On January 4th of 2016, the little Dell Optiplex 755 SFF PC named Duck was upgraded from a mechanical hard drive to a solid state drive. The 3.5inch Western Digital 160GB Caviar Black unit was cloned to a 2.5inch Samsung Evo 850 Series 250GB unit. The original HDD was stashed below the ODD in an empty bay and the SSD was placed in an adapter inside the primary sled. The original drive is unplugged. It is the source in case the SSD fails or becomes corrupt. For now, boot times have been reduced from about two minutes to around ten seconds. Duck has reached true workstation speed. Soon, he will have enough storage space to take advantage of projects he was built to do. Next in line are a similar set of upgrades for Azalea, Duck's twin sister. We are almost ready to open for business...

From what I've read about SSD's, you can almost expect them to fail, and unrecoverable. So keep a copy of everything important on the HDD.
